COMPANY TIMELINE

THE START

I started the company in 2012 because I wanted to take storytelling off the screen and into the real world. Coming from a background in journalism and TV, I was used to shaping narratives and building experiences for a screen. You get ratings. You know when something’s resonating. But you don’t get to see it. You don’t see the smiles, the gasps, the goosebumps. With live events, you feel it. You witness joy in real time. That’s what hooked me. I wanted to create moments where people could lose themselves, connect, and feel something unforgettable. And I wanted to be right there in the middle of it. That’s where BBR was born.

THE CHANGE

The moment that changed everything was Bastille Festival. It started as an idea to bring a slice of France to Sydney. Food, wine, art, music. The full cultural experience. We pitched it to the City of Sydney, took over Circular Quay, and transformed it into a French village for four days. Everyone said it was too ambitious. But it worked. And not just on paper. Hundreds of thousands of people turned up. The energy was electric. That was when we proved we could take over a city precinct and create a real cultural moment. From there, brands, partners, and precincts started trusting us to go bigger. We’ve been growing ever since.

RECENT MILESTONES

There are a few accomplishments we're proud of, but two stand out. First, celebrating 10 years of Mov’in Bed. We launched it with a wild idea: put beds under the stars and reinvent the outdoor cinema. People thought we were mad. But a decade later, it’s still one of the most unique cinema experiences in the world. It continues to sell out. It’s playful, romantic, and cinematic. Everything we stand for. Second, the rise of Ghost in The Rocks. Last year we created Sydney’s first true Halloween festival. Immersive, theatrical, and full of personality. We turned The Rocks into a haunted playground with live shows, hidden bars, and a parade that stopped the city. What started as an idea is now growing into a major signature event for Sydney. And that’s just the beginning.
